Colossians is a rich book on the place Christ holds in God’s plan. The saints in Colossae were already pretty good; they had hope, faith in Christ, love for each other and an orderly church. However, Paul prayed that they would be filled with the full knowledge of God’s will, so that they would walk worthily of the Lord in all things. In Paul’s struggle for the Colossians to grow, he shows them the preeminent place of Christ, he reveals the freedom that comes from realizing their death with Christ, and he paints a picture of a heavenly life in resurrection. This resurrection life is a “together life,” exhibited by the new man, where the church becomes the means to display Christ in resurrection. More info here...
