This summer we will continue our interest camps for young people. We view these camps as opportunities to explore different ways that Christ can be expressed in our lives. We also hope that the camps can reach out to all kinds of young people and help them realize that Jesus is relevant to them and that their participation is important. Through these camps we hope to develop ways of expressing Christ that can enrich both our churches and our outreach to this generation. This year we will have confirmed four different camps: film, music, sports, and writing.
Gospel Odyssey has been happening summer after summer for over a decade. Each year, churches in the Great Lakes area have set aside one week to get out of their normal routine and speak to unbelievers about Jesus Christ. This event is basically a week dedicated to preaching the gospel! We share the gospel in many ways, such as: church invitations, creative gospel (smoothie stands, acts of kindness etc.) and one-on-one discussions with unbelievers being met for the first time. This week will both challenge and strengthen your faith. Many people have found this to be one of the most enjoyable weeks of their life! During the Summer of 2012, over a hundred people prayed with us to receive the Lord. This week will help you realize how the Lord desires to "thrust out more workers into His harvest."
Gather hundreds of youth and those who care about them together in one place. Set an atmosphere energized with worship music, power‐packed Bible messages, intimate small group settings, and fun activities. Add a context that is conducive to inviting friends who do not yet know Jesus or friends who have been wandering or running from Him. Combine these ingredients together and you get Mountain Top 2013. Come to enjoy. Come to serve. Come to Kenyon College in Ohio on July 10-13 for Mountain Top 2013 and don’t forget to bring a friend!
The burden of this time remains two-fold. 1) To help strengthen our junior high young people's foundation in the Word, specifically their base in the Old Testament. This year we will be going over the characters and stories of the Prophets and Kings. 2) To raise up more serving saints in the church by allowing our senior high and college age young people to serve in active, meaningful, and even lead roles while being supported by older saints. Local serving ones and even whole families are encouraged to stay the entire week to help with the practical workings of the camp and to ensure the benefits in the Lord that the young people receive can be supported and continued at home.
This week features ministry and perfecting by brother Titus Chu. All training participants will attend two large ministry gatherings each day. Between these gatherings the participants will be divided into small groups for further fellowship, Bible studies and message reviews.
